Driftr.com and content aggregation

Ran across this site the other day that seemed to meld a flickeresque feel to a pretty slick traveler review site, its in beta at driftr.com

It reminded me of a reoccurring theme going on down at sxsw interactive festival this past march, the rising need for smart content aggregation. Alot has been written on the declining value of redundant content lately, and although this doesn't play in the same space as news content, it does show some insight as to what could influence positively on a larger scale.

The site brings together passionate travelers and gives them the platform to showcase their photos, document their travels, and post reviews and insights that their friends and family can see or better yet, the public can sort and view prior to their own trips.

Its fresh "original" editorial content served up in a clean useable fashion. Very refreshing to see these technologies melded together. It is an example of what needs to happen on a larger scale - smart content aggregators meets smart people networks.

I'm a big fan of aggregation (lots of my strategies tend to head in that direction) for a number of reasons: acknowledges that wisdom lies with the masses and that smart content is being generated by your customers, enables the brand to communicate that they are comfortable with losing "control" of the message, elevates/amplifies trustworthy word of mouth to communicate on a brand's behalf, to name a few.

Speaking of CGM and travel, have you seen EverywhereMag.com?
